6997, "Bryn Ivor Hall" from Bristol Bath Road shed has a passenger express here at Chippenham, heading westwards to her home, probably having worked through from Paddington.
The driver is determined to get in the picture, and his engine looks to be in nice condition with a next stop being at Bath Spa. This is the Bath side of Chippenham station.

The train in the adjacent platform is not the Calne train it is most likely one for the branch leaving the main line at Thingley Jcn to Melksham, Trowbridge, Westbury or just perhaps a stopper on the main line Bristol route. The line that this train is on formed two bay platforms seperated by buffer stops and the Calne train left from the opposite end in the up direction. "
