46142 1949-07-05 Camden Bank

LMS Royal Scot 4-6-0 No 46142 The York and Lancaster Regiment with a Euston-Blackpool express climbing Camden bank on 5 July 1949.

Ian R Townend says " The loco livery is plain black with hybrid numbers i.e pseudo LMS block style smokebox plate and Gill sans numbers on the cabside. I have never been able to determine whether the tender in this livery still carried 'LMS' or there is BR ownership lettering somewhere beneath the grime. This livery remained until the end of 1950 when the loco entered works and emerged in Feb 1951 rebuilt with smoke deflectors and in green livery."
