Originally built by Atkinson Walker of Preston in 1928 as a vertical boiler 'Tram Engine', this unusual 0-4-0 diesel shunter is County Donegal Railway No. 11 'Phoenix'. It was converted to diesel propulsion circa 1932 and was withdrawn in 1959 and preserved. It is shunting in Strabane Station, Co. Tyrone in June 1954 alongside a standard Irish gauge loco and stock.
n.b. Apologies for any errors in this description. Irish railways are not my strong point but I have tried to provide correct details where known.
