SR Schools class 4-4-0 No 30936 Cranleigh with the 7.20am Charing Cross-Ramsagate train near Canterbury on 12th April 1953.

Robert Waterman says "This was a 73B Bricklayers Arms loco at this time and loco duty 89 was a 73B diagram with no12 headcode. For this headcode no. 12, the only plausable routing described that I can tie in with this is Victoria - North Kent lines via Nunhead. However, I believe this could be used if starting from Bricklayers Arms (initially as ECS) or London Bridge and also when continuing on from Dartford to the North Kent resorts of Margate and Ramsgate. The lack of 3rd rail indicates it is indeed beyond Gillingham, the then limit of the 3rd rail. My guess is somewhere in the Whitstable/Herne Bay area but I am by no means sure".
