It was only in the last few years of the Isle of Wight steam locomotives, that their external appearance began to deteriorate. This fine portrait of ex-L&SWR Adams 'O2' W18 'Ningwood' shows the care that Ryde MPD once lavished on these fine little 0-4-4 Tanks. W18, built in 1892 was transferred from the mainland to the IOW in May 1930 and remained there until withdrawal in December 1965. This photograph was taken on Saturday 27th April 1957.
