LSWR O2 0-4-4T No W35 formerly 'Freshwater' with a parcels train leaving Ryde Esplanade in c1966. The original nameplate has been removed which dates it to post 1965 and others show spring vegitation so it must be 1966. On the IoW as for elsewhere on the Southern, the headcode disc/lamp indicated (mostly) the departure and destination points and the route (where applicable) and not the class of train. In the distance a train can be seen at the pier head.
