What a wonderful name. The station was originally named Edington Road, and in 1890 became ithe junction for the Bridgwater branch off the Highbridge line and was renamed Edington Junction. After the Bridgwater line closed to passengers in 1952, the station changed again. to Edington Burtle. Burtle was a village to the north of the station, and closer than Edington village which was two miles away.
