No.2211, a Collett ‘2251’ 0-6-0, the modernised 1930s version of the ‘Dean Goods’ at Stratford GWR shed on 15th May 1960. Its last two postings were Tyseley in June 1959 and Leamington in December 1960, from where it was withdrawn in late 1964. The depot was a sub-shed of Tyseley and the Railway Observer reported in 1953 that it had workings for five engines, three passenger and two freight. The passenger engines, ‘51xx’ and ‘61xx’ 2-6-2Ts, worked the local trains to Birmingham and the ‘2251’ 0-6-0s were mainly used on banking and piloting duties on the severely graded Birmingham line, all except the shortest freights needing assistance, and this continued into the 1960s.
