65033 1956-04-13 Hexham

A Border Counties train from Reedsmouth, crossing over the Rive Tyne and heading towards Hexham on 13th April 1956, with J21 0-6-0 No 65033 in charge.
Jon Greenwood says "I think, given the direction the river is flowing, the angle of the bridge in relation to the Newcastle - Carlisle line in the foreground, and the farmland on the far side of the river, the photo is taken looking north, and the train is heading towards Hexham station and not away from it as originally thought.

I have often looked at the remains of the piers and wondered what the bridge used to look like!"
