Ex-Caledonian Railway Pickersgill '113' (LMS '3P') class 4-4-0 No. 54465. Built at St. Rollox in Apr. 1916 as CR No. 121 and withdrawn in Oct. 1962. The SLS and the Branch Line Society's 'Scottish Rambler' railtour in April 1962 provided the opportunity for enthusiasts to visit many now closed routes and stations. The attractive Perthshire market town of Blairgowrie had already closed its station to passengers in January 1955 but it still handled goods traffic until December 1965. The special is about to leave to Forfar. Inevitably a supermarket and industrial buildings now occupy the site. © Steve Armitage Archive
