The penultimate member of the Dukedog class, 9028 was one of the last ten still in service in 1957, having been the only one allocated to Croes Newydd in 1956.
The high banking in the background was a feature of the shed at Machynlleth, a major depot on the Cambrian with an equally large sub-shed at Aberystwyth.
