9017 1962-06-03 Sheffield Park

GWR Dukedog 4-4-0 No 9017 at Sheffield Park on June 3, 1962.

Peter Kerslake adds "Withdrawn from Oswestry in October 1960 9017 was saved from the cutters' torches at the last minute, the only Dukedog to survive into preservation and has spent much of its recent years on the Bluebell line. Constructed in 1936/37 using the frames from condemned Bulldog 3425 and the boiler, cab and fittings from Duke 3282 Chepstow Castle it had been intended that in its rebuilt form it would be named Earl of Berkeley."
