9018 1950s Swindon

A visitor from Oxford, ‘Dukedog’ 4-4-0 No 9018 awaits attention at Swindon in the early 1950s.
Built 4/38 as No 3218 (allocated ‘Earl of Birkenhead’ but not carried) using frames of Bulldog No No 3380 ‘River Yealm’ (1903); w/d June 1960.

Peter Kerslake adds "Bearing its Oxford shedplate here at Swindon Works in the early 1950's and with a well filled tender 9018 later went down to the Cambrian network as it was housed at 89C which was Machynlleth in 1956, one of no less than fifteen of its class to be found there at that time, later being reshedded at Croes Newydd and then Oswestry in 1959."
