90xx 1950s Barmouth bridge
This fine panoramic view shows the renowned Barmouth bridge to advantage , with its 113 spans constructed from Baltic timber stretching away cross the Mawddach estuary and a Barmouth bound passenger train heading towards our cameraman.
Originally constructed in 1867 this section of the bridge had been rebuilt in the early nineteen hundreds , whilst the newer steel section , incorporating an opening section over the deep water part of the estuary , and nearer the camera dates from 1900 .
The original lifeboat slipway is just discernable in front of the buildings on the left .
