9017 1956-06-06 Welshpool
The clearance for the AWS shoe was not that generous.
Happily still with us today little 9017 had been constructed at Swindon in 1937 or thereabouts using the frames of condemned " Bulldog " 3425 and the cab , boiler and fittings from " Duke " 3282 " Chepstow Castle " .
Withdrawn from Oswestry Depot in 1960 she was the only little " Dukedog " to survive into preservation and her " Earl of Berkeley " nameplates which had been cast for her but never carried when she was built , finally met up with her in 1963 when "Castle " 5060 , their recipient in October of 1937 , was withdrawn , their owner donating his purchased plates to the Bluebell Railway where 9017 was then residing .
