G&SWR 8 1890s Location unknown
Glasgow & South Western Railway Manson '8' (LMS '1P') class 4-4-0 No. 8. Built at Kilmarnock in May 1892 and withdrawn in November 1927 as LMS No. 14157.
The location of this fine portrait has (so far) eluded me. Nonetheless, it's always a treat to see quality photographs of locomotives from the GS&WR. Sadly, it was one of the less celebrated pre-grouping Scottish railways that suffered the decimation of almost it's entire fleet by the LMS within 15 years of the grouping. Restored from an original period 8"x10" print.
