The Glasgow & South Western Railway was a modest user of tank locomotives and the 28 of these large ('Class 1) (LMS'3F') were the most numerous. They were designed by Peter Drummond and a later batch were modified with higher water capacity by Robert Whitelegg. 16905 survived (just!) into BR days but never received its BR number. Photo taken at Hurlford on Monday 16th July 1928.
