I couldn't find any reference to 1F40 in the Birmingham WTT I have to hand (May 1970-May 1971), thus implying that it avoided Brum by traversing the Trent Valley section of the WCML between Rugby and Stafford via Nuneaton, Tamworth and Lichfield.
