60700 1957-05-22 Kings Cross

W1 No 60700 departs from Kings Cross with the 3.52pm to Leeds & Bradford express on May 22, 1957.

This afternoon working from Kings Cross to Leeds was a regular duty for 60700 but it came to grief on 1 September 1955 when as the result of a fracture of the leading bogie the engine was derailed at Peterborough. As a result the bogie frames of many of the Gresley express engines were temporarily painted white in order to show any cracks which might appear.
