A WD 2-8-0 coasts downhill to Bury past Heap Bridge Jc box with a westbound mixed freight. It is Winter 1960/61 and the signal box has lost part of its guttering. The sheeted opens are probably awaiting transfer to Yates, Duxbury's paper mills and sidings, their private locos operated the remains of the Heap Bridge branch by arrangement with BR once Bury shed was unable to provide locos suitable for the tightly curving poor quality track. The arrangement lasted until 1973.
