1302 1940s Stewarts Lane MPD

1302 1940s Stewarts Lane MPD

Ex-South Eastern Railway 0-4-0 Crane Tank No. 1302 at Stewarts Lane MPD in the 1940s, Built by Neilson, Reid & Co. in 1881 as SER No. 302. Withdrawn in July 1949 still as SR No. 1302. Someone has chalked ‘Region’ below the Southern which suggests this is well into the BR period, perhaps close to withdrawal? In its latter days it was used to shunt the milk depot situated behind the shed and accessed by a tightly curved siding, its crane being redundant, here there are no signs of it being greased up so again supporting a BR period photo.
