LMS 2P 4-4-0 No 40690 piloting 45576 Bombay on the up 'Waverley' near Hasland at Clay Cross North Junction just north of Clay Cross station with the exchange sidings for the Avenue Coking Plant in the background. These were also used as a marshalling siding for the local collieries. The view is taken from Hagg Hill bridge. The overbridge in the far distance takes wagons from the Avenue Carbonisation and Chemical Plant to the sidings using the Plant's own small fleet of 0-4-0 diesels.
