Not having Norton East’s distant signal has resulted in a slammed shut regulator as No 60073 ’St Gatien’ passes Norton South with the daily Bristol-Newcastle train. The A3 had been fitted with a double chimney in August 1958 and woud subsequently receive smoke dflectors in July 1961 before withdrawal in August 1963
