60915 1961-08-22 York

On shed but still with the Tees-Thames headboard. David travelled on this train down from Stockton. 60915 had come off at York. The diagram for the Tees -Thames was for a Thornaby V2 (usually 60915) from Saltburn to York, here the train was strengthened and a Pacific usually from York or Doncaster shed would continued to London. 60915 would return north with a parcels train to Darlington then light engine back to Thornaby shed 51L, as per diagram. Thanks to D. Whittaker of Teesside for this information.

Whether it was usual to take the headboard back with the loco to Thornaby remains an outstanding question, however I suspect it did.
