60518 1962-01-27 Norton
The daily parcels train from Newcastle along the coast route came through Norton in the late morning and was always known to enthusiasts as 'The Palethorpe' as it often carried a colourful Palethorpe livery sausage van - see the photo of 60878 at Hartburn. The motive power for this train could be anything from a V1 tank to a Pacific although V2s seemed to be a favourite if the loading only justified one.
