60020 1961-09-17 Norton

Caught napping! This one crept up without warning. A diverted southbound express rounds the curve between Norton West and Norton South on Sunday 17th September 1961 behind No 60020 ‘Guillemot’. Always a Gateshead engine this unfortunate A4 was usually seen in the filthy condition displayed here -unless very recently ex-works. It did not serve in the Scottish A4 renaissance and was withdrawn in March 1964.
