Known locally as The Palethorpes, this southbound parcels train ran on weekdays and frequently had a Palethorpes sausage van in its makeup. Here No 60045 ‘Lemberg’ stands at Stockton with the train on 9th August 1962. The A3 was later fitted with trough type smoke deflectors and reallocated from Gateshead to Darlington. Withdrawn in November 1964.
