Ex-Midland Railway Kirtley '156' (LMS '2P') class 2-4-0 No. 20002. Built at Derby in 1866 as MR No. 158 and withdrawn in July 1947. Emerging from the cavernous gloom of Birmingham New Street Station this Midland Railway veteran was to serve for over 80 years. Rather more value for money than some diesel types I'd suggest!
