Ex-North Eastern Railway Worsdell 'E1' (LNER 'J72') class 0-6-0 Tank No. 2183. Built at Darlington in Oct.1914 as NER No. 2183 and withdrawn in Dec. 1958 as BR No. 68700. The LNER sent locomotives of its constituents to some places far-flung from their 'home' territories. The ex-Great North of Scotland MPD at Kittybrewster has acquired ex-NER 2183. It is interesting that Inverurie Works (presumably) has painted the old NER class 'E1' on the bufferbeam below the loco number, as seen here in August 1937. This locomotive ended its days allocated to Keith MPD.
