6664 1959 Swindon

6664 1959 Swindon

Newly ex works with AWS and in lined green.

Allocated to 81F, Oxford Depot , 6664 is resplendent in her new fully lined out green livery , applied to a number of the " 5600 "class tanks as they passed through here at Swindon Works from 1957.
Whereas all but thirteen of the original one hundred of the initial 1924 class were to be found allocated to Depots within South Wales , the second batch of one hundred , introduced in 1927 , were spread over a wider range of Depots , although quite a few were also allocated to Welsh Depots .
6664 was one of the last fifty of the class built not here at Swindon but by Armstrong Whitworths at Scotswood on Tyne in 1928
