35019 1948-04-19 Paddington

SR Merchant Navy class Pacific No 35019 French Line C.G.T. departs from Paddington with the 1.30pm Plymouth express on April 19, 1948 during the 1948 Locomotive Exchanges.

Peter kerslake says "Due to work this 1.30.p.m. from here at Paddington down as far as Plymouth with a 6.25.p.m. arrival time 35019 "Belgian Marine" is coupled with a L.M.S. tender in order for her to take water on the troughs during her westwards run, but the former G.W.R. Dynamometer Car is not included in the formation this day.
The engine bears its "Southern" roundel on the smokebox door and her number above the buffer beam and she certainly looks out of place here at Paddington."
