Merchant Navy class 4-6-2 No 35012 United States Lines passes Clapham Junction with the down 'Atlantic Coast Express' on May 30, 1964. The houses are a fascinating glimpse of the early 1960s. Two are newly re-roofed in corrugated iron (!) This appears to have been newly done to a high standard given the quality of the flashing. The rears all have 'rear porches' with a mixture of coverings -corrugated asbestos seems the most popular choice although the others include iron and slates The flat roofed 'extensions' look original and contail first floor toilets although pipework indicates other floors had these as well. The painted sign is for Wallis & Co Auctioneers, Estate Agents, Surveyors and Valuers.
