35007 1967-06-17 Upwey

Shorn of its nameplates SR Rebuilt MN 35007 formerly Aberdeen Commonwealth with a Weymouth-Waterloo express climbing past Upwey on 17 June 1967.

This is an up Channel Islands boat train according to the three disc headcode. These were normally banked to the Dorchester side of Bincombe Tunnel where the banker dropped off and returned to Weymouth via the Bincombe Tunnel Signal Box reversing siding located between the up and down tracks (per normal GWR practice out of Weymouth). SR passenger trains heavy enough to require assistance out of Weymouth were normally piloted to Dorchester South where they detached during the normal station stop. The Channel Islands boat train was non-stop to Poole (again for for a banker for Parkstone Bank) but passed non-stop through Bournemouth Central to Southampton Central (for water).
