1363 1950s Plymouth Millbay Docks
Plymouth's Laira shed had three of the five " 1361 " class of Saddle Tanks on their allocation in the mid ' fifties , their primary role being as seen here working within the former G.W.R. Millbay Docks , marshalling freight and Boat Train passenger stock as well as working on freight duties in and around Sutton Harbour and also acting as Shed Pilot engine within Laira dhed complex itself.
In their early years the dock engines at Millbay were stabled overnight in a small shed adjacent to Millbay station , this being when Millbay was the principal passenger station at Plymouth , but with North Road station taking that role the engine from Millbay Docks would return home to Laira at the end of its working day for servicing ready for the next day's duties.
1363 is the sole survivor of her class , happily being saved for preservation and now to be found
