On what we enthusiasts used to call the " Oil Line " at the back of Laira 's Running Shed their little 1363 is shown here on 20th . June 1962 " in store " , with no coal in her bunker and with rust on her piston rod , having been officially taken out of service for the second time some three months previously .
Condemned five months after this photograph , the engine was spared from being cut up ( probably at Swindon ) as a damaged front coupling rendered it impossible to tow 1363 and she was accordingly saved for preservation , going initially to Totnes and later to Bodmin before her final move to Didcot in March of 1977 , where she resides today.
