On the Chalford service. Does anyone know what loco was working that day with string from its cabside handrail?
Peter Kerslake says "Having done a bit more delving into my records I can today now say that this is 1444 which I think suffered a broken axle not too long after I took this picture at Gloucester Central on 4th . September , 1964 when it had arrived either from Chalford or Sharpness .
Gloucester's " 1400 " class were still very much to the fore on the Chalford and Sharpness services at this date , but by the final day of both services on 31st . October , 1954 there were only about three left , with a number out of service at the former Midland Region shed at Barnwood which had closed earlier that year"
