1451 1963-07-29 Hemyock
A longstanding resident at Exeter Depot their 1451 was one of eight of he class allocated there in the mid ' fifties , that Depot sharing with Gloucester the distinction of having the most of the class on their rspective books in 1956 .
Both Depots had a need for their respective allocation of these little " 1400's " , both having a number of branch lines admirably suited for these little engines , fulfilling their roles for which they had been designed and intended by Mr . Collett and introduced into service in 1932.
Hemyock had an important creamery, and this view shows a number of the heavy six wheeled milk tank wagons being made up with their brake van , such a familiar sight on this branch from Tiverton Junction.
