1419 1955-07 Fowey
Just arriving
Although not a class associated with Cornwall , Saint Blazey Depot had 1419 on its allocation in the mid 'fifties , working the Fowey branch as seen here with its splendid coach , doubtless one which the experts would be able to identify .
Spread over twenty five Motive Power Depots in early 1956 the 72 survivors of the inital batch of 75 of the " 1400 " class were to be found as far north as Birkenhead ( 6C ) which had two on its books , whilst the South Wales Depots at Machynlleth , Llantrisant , Carmarthen , Oswestry , Goodwick , Landore and Croes Newydd held a total of eleven ,with a number being allocated to Reading and Slough in the London area.
1419 seen here sadly dd not make it into preservation although her sister 1420 was more fortunate and survives today on the South Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh.
