A lovely rural scene.
Little 1421 seen here at Hemyock in 1963 had been allocated to Newport Ebbw Vale in company with her sister engine 1422 in the mid ' fifties , but was later reallocated to Exeter , that Depot having responsibility for the Hemyock branch which ran for seven and a half miles from Tiverton Junction on the West of England main line to its terminus here at Hemyock .
The heavy six wheeled milk tank wagon seen here was one of many used on this branch , an important creamery and milk producing plant here at Hemyock providing the mainstay of traffic on the lightly laid track.
The gentlman on the footplate looks too well dresssed to be one of the crew and is probably a retired engineman enjoying a " Busman's Holiday "
