1458 1956-06-23 Oswestry
Peter Kerslake says "Taking water at a sunlit Oswestry shed in June of 1956 little 1458 would, according to my shed book for that year, have been allocated to Stourbridge Junction, although she did move to here at Oswestry some time in 1960 or shortly afterwards.
Oswestry Depot dated back to 1860, the days of the Oswestry and Newtown Railway, the facility with its four road shed being absorbed by the Cambrian Railway four years later and extended by an additional two road second shed .
Originally part of the Western Region the Depot went over to the Midland Region in September of 1963 , but was closed just two years later .
1458 had the distinction of working one of the Gloucester to Chalford Autotrains on the very last day of those services on 31st October 1964, then being a Gloucester Horton Road engine, following which she went over to the adjacent and by then closed Barnwood Depot, where she was stored out of use with many condemned locomotives all awaiting their fate, but sadly she did not make it into preservation"
