2822 1934-08 Ramsey Creek Dovercourt

LNER Gresley 'B17/6' class 4-6-0 No. 2822 'Alnwick Castle'. Built at Darlington in January 1931 and withdrawn in Sepember. 1958 as BR No. 61622.

A Harwich to York express is skirting the waters of Ramsey Creek at Dovercourt in August 1934. The first vehicle is a distinctive GER parcels van. It is extremely doubtful if this locomotive ever went near its namesake in Northumberland, an overhaul at Darlington over 70 miles distant was probably the best it ever managed!
