Off Norwich, so was looking for a service to work home after its works visit.

This photograph shows clearly the replica brass football carried by twenty five of Gresley's B17s on its centre splasher and below the nameplate, 61656 looking its best in new lined green colours fresh from overhaul at Doncaster .
Famed for fast running between Kings Cross and Cambridge via the East Coast Main Line to Hitchin, especially on the regular and tightly timed "Cambridge Buffet Expresses" members of the class also handled the more demanding and heavily loaded express passenger duties between Norwich and Liverpool Street via Ipswich before their role was taken over in the early 'fifties by the newly introduced Britannias allocated to both Norwich and Stratford Depots.
In its heyday the class numbered no fewer than seventry three in total , the first withdrawal being in 1953 whilst 61668 outlived all its sisters until being condemned in September 1960.
