A well kept loco with burnished fittings on the smokebox door Colchester's 61616 makes a nice picture as it waits on the up platform at Ipswich station with an express freight in late Summer , 1955.
Working at Ipswich at this time afforded me the opportunity to capture on film what to a Westcountry lad were strange and unfamiliar locomotives , and Ipswich station was a splendid location for such activities.
