Ex-LNER Gresley 'J38/2' class 0-6-0 No. 65918. Built at Darlington in March 1926 as LNER No. 1421 and withdrawn in November 1966. The small e-NBR shed at Alloa seen here in April 1965, had just enough room to house six or so locomotives. Usually, the allocation was a clutch of Gresley 'J38s', a class of 35 engines built specifically for freight work in Scotland. The first LNER group standard locomotive design, the 'J38s' were also the last of Gresley's designs to be withdrawn in 1967.
