BR Standard 5MT 4-6-0 No 73111 still named 'King Uther' passes Queens Road Battersea station with the 6.09pm Waterloo to Basingstoke train on 27th July 1964.

Robert Waterman explains the formation : "The non-corridor compartment stock was used from about 1964 to increase seating capacity and was formed into 5 car sets comprising SK-FK-BSK(semi-open)-S-S or CK-CK-BSK(semi-open)-S-S and 2 sets were combined for rush hour services into 10 car formations - mostly for Basingstoke stoppers (and some Salisbury's). The non-corridors were sometimes green liveried, presumably from the Exeter - Exmouth services which had become WR DMUs around this time and ex WR ones in lined maroon livery (if I recall only the 10 compartment type).
