Pete Speller makes some interesting observationsVery interesting photograph. The building in the right background is the ex-Midland Railway loco shed which at the time of this photo was used for maintaining BR road vehicles. The shed was subsequently demolished and replaced by a MacDonalds restaurant. The white building behind the MR shed is the Nightingale public house which was originally called the Leicester Arms after the Leicester to Hitchin Railway. The pub is still there but currently under threat of closure (Oct 2015). The large building in the left background is Bowmans flour mill also subsequently demolished and replaced initially by B&Q and now a discount warehouse. Ex-diesel shed (centre) is still there although I believe is currently disused.
