Laira Diesel Depot 1966

Laira Diesel Depot 1966

The second of my two pictures taken from Astor Park at Mount Gould at Plymouth on the 21st. September of 1966 shows the new Laira Diesel facility , opened on 13th March 1962.
The River Plym, with Saltram Park on its far bank forms an attractive background and the tree lined Embankment Road leading into Plymouth lies between the shed and the Plym and the Southern fringes of Lee Moor and Dartmoor are just visible in the far distance.
The houses on the skyline at Efford were part of the very first post war housing development in the City of Plymouth, and probably have the best views of any Council Houses to be found anywhere!
