Time is running out for one of the last four Prince of Wales 4-6-0s, at Crewe in 1948. Already in BR ownership, No 25673 ’Lusitania’ had been allocated No 58001 but the number was not carried before withdrawal came in january 1949. Built in March 1916 as LNWR No 1100 it had the joint longest career (along with No 25648 ‘Queen of the Belgians’) of this 245 strong Class.
