32138 1955-05 Fratton

Mike King comments
Fratton station in May 1955, with ex-LBSCR E1 0-6-0T 32138 shunting Bulleid 5-set 837 through the carriage wash plant. The set still looks extremely smart in 'blood and custard' but still has its original 1949 paint finish complete with left-hand end numbering. The leading brake is S3985S. 32138 had been at Nine Elms since 1949 but spent its final few years at Fratton (70F). The main line platforms curve away to the left, while the former East Southsea branch platform has been swept away and the location is now occupied by the carriage wash plant.
