Overgrown and sadly neglected following the final year of passenger services in 1963 this is the view of the southern or Plymouth side of the station four years later with its main water tank clearly visible together with the old Saxby and Farmer Tavistock " B " signal box which was used in latter times as a store and office by the Signal and Telegraph staff.
What is not visible in this view , however , is the little turntable which is in front of the signal box and just to the left of the water tower , but it was rarely used even in the days of steam .
The sidings here were used by the Engineering Department , with the track to the adjacent cattle sidings visible, the cattle pens being behind the cameraman
